Senior Hardware Integration Technician
About the role
At Q-CTRL, we’re developing advanced navigation and quantum sensing technologies designed to operate in real-world environments. We’re looking for a Senior Hardware Integration Technician to play a hands-on role in bringing these systems to life across UAS and other test platforms.
You’ll work closely with hardware, systems, and software engineers across the US and globally to assemble and integrate sensing and navigation systems, fabricate wiring and harnesses, install sensors and computing hardware, perform system checkout, troubleshoot hardware issues, and prepare equipment for laboratory, field, and flight operations. As our platforms mature, you’ll help improve build practices, documentation, configuration control, and installation repeatability while supporting cutting-edge defense and aerospace programs at the intersection of hardware, software, and real-world operations.
What you'll be doing
- Perform hands-on assembly, installation, integration, modification, and maintenance of electronic hardware, sensors, computing systems, wiring, and associated equipment on UAS and other test platforms.
- Fabricate and modify wiring harnesses, cables, connectors, mounts, and enclosures using engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
- Support hardware bring-up, troubleshooting, testing, and field demonstrations.
- Use electronic test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies to troubleshoot and resolve integration issues.
- Maintain flight-ready and test-ready hardware, including inspections, repairs, configuration tracking, and documentation.
- Work closely with other engineers to support reliable system integration and testing.
- Travel periodically to support flight tests, field deployments, and customer demonstrations.
Ideally you'll have:
- An Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent hands-on experience in electronics, avionics, electrical technology, mechatronics, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience integrating, troubleshooting, and maintaining electronic or electromechanical systems.
- Strong skills in wiring, soldering, harness fabrication, and reading electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Experience integrating sensors, computers, communications equipment, and power systems.
- Experience with electronic test equipment and hardware troubleshooting.
- UAS, aviation, avionics, robotics, or autonomous systems experience is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with single-board computers, UAS avionics/autopilots, Linux, serial communications, CAN, Ethernet, GPS/GNSS, IMUs, or RF systems is a plus.
- Experience supporting flight testing, field trials, or customer demonstrations is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently in lab and field environments with a focus on safe, quality execution.
