  • Analyze existing fiber and copper cabling, patch panels, conduit, and related network infrastructure to identify upgrade or remediation requirements.
  • Develop detailed Site Survey Reports (SSRs) and Installation Design Plans (IDPs), incorporating floor plans, rack elevation diagrams, power calculations, and other technical requirements.
  • Prepare accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) to support equipment procurement, installation planning, and logistics.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot IT hardware, including routers, switches, crypto devices, UPS systems, and associated software and firmware.
  • Load and configure Windows and Linux operating systems and apply security baselines, including STIGs, in accordance with applicable DoD cybersecurity requirements.
  • Conduct burn-in testing, system validation, and readiness checks before final acceptance and deployment.
  • Diagnose complex hardware/software interoperability issues in the field and coordinate with backend engineering teams to resolve technical challenges.
  • Create and maintain engineering drawings, network diagrams, rack elevations, and other technical documentation using Microsoft Visio or AutoCAD.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact during field activities and collaborate with project managers, program management personnel, government representatives, and site stakeholders.
  • Maintain daily status updates and After Action Reports (AARs) throughout deployments and communicate progress, issues, and findings to project leadership.
  • Ensure field activities comply with applicable safety requirements, military installation access procedures, training requirements, and technical certifications.
  • Support teammates through knowledge sharing, mentoring, and maintaining current technical training and certifications.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, combined with at least 5 years of experience in hardware/software integration and structured cabling; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
    • At least 5 years of professional experience in hardware/software installation, integration, troubleshooting, or related technical field operations.
    • Proven experience conducting technical site surveys in Department of Defense (DoD) or federal government environments.
    • Active Secret security clearance required at the start of employment; Top Secret clearance is preferred.
    • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 90% of the time for CONUS deployments and potentially OCONUS assignments.
    • Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, including fiber-optic and copper cabling standards such as single-mode, multi-mode, and CAT6.
    • Understanding of electrical and equipment requirements, including NEMA plugs, UPS sizing, power calculations, and BTU/HVAC considerations.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Visio for network diagrams, rack elevations, and engineering documentation; AutoCAD/CAD experience is advantageous.
    • Experience installing and configuring routers, switches, crypto devices, UPS systems, operating systems, firmware, and related IT equipment.
    • Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity practices and system security baselines, including STIG implementation.
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, particularly for complex hardware, software, and interoperability issues.
    • Preferred experience with U.S. Army Signal Brigade, DISA, or DoDIN network installation and modernization programs.
    • BICSI Technician or RCDD certification is preferred.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical reports and collaborate with government and project stakeholders.
    • Ability to work effectively in field-based, high-tempo environments while maintaining attention to detail, safety, and compliance.
    • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces such as server closets and raised-floor environments.
    • Benefits:

      • Annual salary of $74,700.
      • Remote work arrangement with extensive travel supporting U.S. military IT modernization missions.
      • Opportunity to contribute to critical national security and federal technology initiatives.
      • Exposure to enterprise-scale network, hardware, software, communications, and cybersecurity environments.
      • Opportunities to work with government stakeholders, technical engineering teams, and mission-focused professionals.
      • Professional development through required and role-relevant training and certifications.
      • Team-oriented culture emphasizing collaboration, integrity, helpfulness, continuous learning, and mission focus.
      • Equal employment opportunities, including protections for veterans and individuals with disabilities.
