Senior Hardware System Engineer, Home and Health
Summary
Design and integrate custom silicon and hardware systems for Google's home products, guiding them from concept to mass production while meeting performance and cost targets.
The Google Home team focuses on hardware, software and services offerings for the home, ranging from thermostats to smart displays. The Home team researches, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make users’ homes more helpful. - Lead holistic product electrical design and system integration to achieve cost, schedule, and product specifications.
- Own the Engineering Requirement Specifications (ERS) by converting the Product Requirements Document (PRD) into detailed technical benchmarks and validation requirements.
- Act as the central technical leader to resolve conflicts, risks, and tradeoffs across cross-functional domains including PD, EE, and Technologies.
- Enhance design maturity through rigorous simulation reviews and lead critical design assessments—including System Design and Ok2Power—prior to key development phases.
- Manage technical realization of end-to-end features from exploration and prototyping through to mass production.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4 years of experience working in consumer electronics system design.
- Experience in one of the following domains: architecture, power/battery/Soc, interfaces, or analog/camera/display engineering.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience leading teams or mentoring in JDM/Original Design Manufacturing (ODM) models.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to travel 10% of the time domestically or internationally.
