Senior Human Resources Manager
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Human Resources Manager based in Canada.
This is a hands-on Human Resources leadership opportunity within a fast-growing, technology-driven environment where strong execution and operational excellence are essential.
You will serve as the primary HR operator, owning core people processes across onboarding, offboarding, employee relations, performance management, benefits, compliance, and HR systems.
The role combines day-to-day execution with meaningful partnership with managers and senior leadership across a distributed U.S. and Canadian workforce.
You will help managers navigate performance challenges, conduct effective accountability conversations, and build practical people-management capabilities.
You will also maintain HR systems, strengthen policies and processes, support compensation and benefits programs, and ensure employment and security compliance requirements are met.
This role is ideal for an experienced HR professional who enjoys solving problems directly, working independently, and building processes that are accurate, efficient, and practical.
With significant ownership and visibility, you will have the opportunity to make HR operations work effectively in a lean, rapidly evolving technology organization.

- Maintain accurate employee records, organizational information, and HR data within the primary Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
- Administer benefits for U.S. and Canadian employees, including open enrollment, carrier coordination, employee questions, renewals, and policy accuracy.
- Provide basic Information Technology (IT) support related to HR operations, including password resets, Google Workspace access, device coordination, and new-hire hardware procurement in partnership with IT resources.

- You have 5–8 years of hands-on Human Resources experience in a generalist or HR Manager capacity, ideally within a startup, scale-up, or similarly lean environment where you have owned multiple HR functions simultaneously.
- You are genuinely hands-on and take ownership of execution rather than relying primarily on delegation or strategic advisory work.
- You have strong working knowledge of Canadian and U.S. employment law fundamentals and experience supporting a distributed workforce across both countries.
- You have proven experience managing performance processes, including difficult conversations, Performance Improvement Plans, manager coaching, and termination support.
- You are highly comfortable with HR technology and systems and can quickly learn new platforms, configure workflows and automations, and maintain accurate employee data.
- You have experience building and managing onboarding and offboarding processes at scale, including checklists, workflows, documentation, and process controls.
- You have experience with SOC II or similar compliance frameworks and understand how to maintain HR documentation and evidence for security audits.
- You demonstrate strong employee relations judgment and can handle sensitive workplace situations with discretion, empathy, consistency, and professionalism.
- You have excellent organizational and prioritization skills and can manage multiple HR processes simultaneously without losing attention to detail or follow-through.
- You are comfortable with basic IT responsibilities such as password resets, Google Workspace administration, device coordination, and access management.
- You are confident working independently in environments where processes may need to be created, improved, or clarified.
- You have strong written and verbal communication skills and can work effectively with employees, managers, senior leaders, and external providers.

- Base salary of $90,000–$120,000 CAD annually.
- Performance-based bonus of up to 10% of base salary annually.
- Stock options in a high-growth technology company.
- 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision premiums for Canadian employees and their families under the comprehensive benefits plan.
- Retirement plan with a 4% company contribution match.
- 8 weeks of paid parental leave for birthing parents and 4 weeks for non-birthing parents.
- 3–5 weeks of Paid Time Off (PTO), depending on tenure.
- 5 health days.
- 15 paid holidays.
- End-of-year company shutdown.
- Remote-first working environment.
- Fast-paced and collaborative workplace with significant ownership and autonomy.
- Opportunities for professional growth through meaningful HR projects and broad functional responsibility.
