Senior ICT Project Coordinator / Project Governance Lead - 6 Month Contract
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Project Governance Lead to join a large, complex Defence ICT program, providing dedicated governance leadership, assurance and oversight across a high-profile technology delivery.
Working closely with the Program Manager, you will be the single point of accountability for project governance, ensuring governance frameworks are followed, risks and issues are proactively managed, approvals and milestones are tracked, reporting is accurate, and delivery remains on track.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who knows what "good" looks like across complex ICT programs. You'll have the confidence to challenge where required, identify gaps before they become problems, and provide the governance leadership that enables the wider project team to focus on successful delivery.
Location: Melbourne – Hybrid (3 days in the office / 2 days WFH)
Duration: Initial 6-month contract with strong likelihood of extension through to the end of 2027
Day Rate: $700–$900 including super (depending on experience)
Citizenship: Must be an Australian Citizen

Responsibilities
- Lead project governance, assurance and compliance activities across a complex ICT program.
- Maintain governance artefacts including RAIDD registers, project documentation, action logs and decision registers.
- Coordinate governance forums, Steering Committee meetings, agendas, minutes and action tracking.
- Monitor project milestones, delivery readiness, approvals and escalation management.
- Track project budgets, forecasts, purchase orders, Statements of Work and financial governance activities.
- Review project documentation to ensure it is complete, accurate and aligned with governance standards.
- Identify delivery risks, governance gaps and potential issues, proactively driving resolution before they impact delivery.
- Produce high-quality governance reporting for senior stakeholders and program leadership.
- Partner closely with the Program Manager, acting as a trusted advisor and providing governance oversight across all aspects of delivery.
- Proven experience in Project Governance, PMO or Project Controls roles supporting large-scale ICT or technology transformation programs.
- Strong knowledge of project governance frameworks, assurance processes and reporting best practice.
- Experience managing RAIDD registers, governance forums, Steering Committees, project reporting and escalation processes.
- Strong financial governance experience, including budgets, forecasts, purchase orders and vendor governance.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the confidence to challenge, influence and drive accountability.
- Highly organised, proactive and detail-oriented, with the ability to identify issues before they become delivery risks.
- Experience working within complex enterprise or Defence environments will be highly regarded.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
