What you'll do
- Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial contracts across Deriv’s business operations. Balance protection with business needs.
- Handle litigation and disputes. Assess exposure and manage external counsel on matters where fintech creates novel legal questions.
- Design and improve legal operations. Build contract governance frameworks, legal processes, and systems that scale and reduce manual work.
- Provide legal support for LFSA licensing applications and regulatory matters. Review legal documentation, provide legal opinions, and support regulatory engagement.
- Partner with engineers to build AI tools for contract drafting, legal research, and legal operations. Identify opportunities to automate repetitive work.
- Translate legal requirements into practical guidance. Train teams on legal boundaries so they can move fast without creating exposure.
- You are a qualified lawyer with at least 5 years' PQE in corporate/commercial and regulatory law. You've handled contracts and legal matters with real business consequences.
- You understand offshore financial services legal requirements or have strong interest in building expertise. Exposure to LFSA, Labuan IBFC, or similar offshore regulatory environments is valuable.
- You're comfortable with AI and automation. You use AI tools or you're ready to learn to automate legal processes.
- You assess risk without killing momentum. You're commercially pragmatic, helping business make informed decisions with sound legal judgment.
- You communicate clearly. Strong English. You explain legal requirements to non-legal teams.
- You maintain your professional knowledge through continuous professional development.
You'll own legal matters for Labuan-based entities and broader operations. You'll handle contracts, litigation, legal operations, and LFSA engagement. You'll need sound legal judgement and the ability to work independently.
