Job description:
The Infrastructure Architect is responsible for designing and overseeing enterprise infrastructure solutions across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. The role covers compute, storage, virtualization, networking, workplace infrastructure, identity, and core infrastructure services, ensuring that solutions are secure, scalable, resilient, and aligned with the organization's technology strategy.
The Infrastructure Architect will work closely with application, security, network, workplace, and cloud teams, as well as business stakeholders and external vendors, to translate business and application requirements into robust infrastructure solutions.
A key requirement for this role is previous experience supporting Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) rollouts from an IT infrastructure perspective. The architect should understand the infrastructure dependencies and technical requirements associated with D365 implementations, including connectivity, identity, security, integration, environments, performance, and operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Architecture & Design
Design and develop enterprise infrastructure architectures across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
Define infrastructure standards, reference architectures, and technology roadmaps.
Design solutions covering compute, storage, virtualization, backup, disaster recovery, identity, and core infrastructure services.
Ensure infrastructure solutions meet requirements for security, availability, scalability, performance, and cost efficiency.
Produce High-Level Designs (HLDs), Low-Level Designs (LLDs), architecture diagrams, and technical documentation.
Assess existing environments and identify gaps, risks, and opportunities for standardization and modernization.
Provide technical direction during infrastructure transformation, migration, and integration projects.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Infrastructure
Provide infrastructure architecture support for Microsoft Dynamics 365 implementations and rollouts.
Assess and define the infrastructure requirements and dependencies for D365 deployments.
Work with D365 application and functional teams to ensure infrastructure, identity, network, security, and integration requirements are understood and delivered.
Design connectivity between D365 services and on-premises, Azure, and other enterprise environments where required.
Support the definition of environments, connectivity, authentication, security, and integration requirements for D365.
Assess network latency, bandwidth, firewall, DNS, proxy, and identity dependencies that may impact D365 implementations.
Ensure infrastructure readiness ahead of D365 deployment and business go-live.
Support technical troubleshooting and resolution of infrastructure-related issues during D365 rollouts and hypercare.
Ensure D365 infrastructure requirements are incorporated into enterprise architecture standards and operational models.
Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure
Design and oversee hybrid infrastructure solutions across public cloud and on-premises environments.
Lead infrastructure design activities for Azure and other cloud platforms where applicable.
Define connectivity and integration between cloud and on-premises environments.
Evaluate cloud adoption, migration, and modernization opportunities.
Ensure cloud infrastructure follows enterprise security, governance, resilience, and cost-optimization principles.
Infrastructure Transformation & Migration
Provide architecture leadership for infrastructure migrations, consolidations, carve-outs, and M&A integration activities.
Assess existing infrastructure environments and develop transition and migration strategies.
Define target-state infrastructure architectures and migration roadmaps.
Identify technical dependencies, risks, and constraints affecting migration activities.
Work with project and transition teams to ensure infrastructure designs are successfully implemented.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
Work closely with network, workplace, security, cloud, application, and service management teams.
Translate business and application requirements into practical infrastructure solutions.
Provide technical guidance to project managers, engineers, and implementation teams.
Communicate complex infrastructure concepts and risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Participate in architecture governance and design review processes.
