Senior Infrastructure / DevOps Engineer – VMware, Terraform & Ansible – Sydney

Delivery Centric is seeking a Senior Infrastructure / DevOps Engineer to build and migrate a VMware-based NFT environment to a new vSphere 9 cluster. The role focuses on infrastructure automation, VM migration, networking, load balancing and CI/CD using Terraform, Ansible and Azure DevOps.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and configure the NFT environment on the new VMware vSphere 9 cluster in line with approved architecture and build designs.
• Plan and execute the migration of virtual machines, application workloads and supporting services.
• Configure load-balanced application clusters using F5, including networking, DNS, IP addressing and connectivity.
• Scale the environment and validate compute, storage, network and application readiness before migration cutover.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code and configuration automation using Terraform, Ansible and Ansible Automation Platform.
• Create, update and troubleshoot Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure provisioning and deployment.
• Perform manual configuration where required while progressively automating repeatable tasks.
• Manage infrastructure code, configurations and pipeline definitions using Git.
• Apply enterprise networking and security principles across VMware networking, DNS/IPAM, firewalls and load balancers.
• Support monitoring, logging, observability, technical validation and defect resolution.
• Coordinate with Infrastructure, Platform Operations, CI/CD, SRE, architecture, application and NFT teams.
• Maintain technical documentation, migration runbooks, build records and operational procedures.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Ansible Automation Platform / Ansible Tower, including job templates, inventories, credentials and workflow orchestration.
• Proven experience with Terraform and Ansible for infrastructure provisioning and configuration automation.
• Experience developing, maintaining and troubleshooting Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of enterprise networking, including VLANs, routing, firewalls, DNS, IPAM and load balancing.
• Practical experience with Infoblox and F5 load balancers, or equivalent enterprise technologies.
• Scripting experience using PowerShell, Bash and/or Python.
• Strong knowledge of Git, branching strategies, peer reviews and collaborative engineering practices.
• Ability to interpret architecture diagrams, low-level designs and build specifications.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across compute, storage, networking, operating systems, middleware and deployment layers.
• Experience working independently on complex infrastructure builds and migration programs.
• Strong technical documentation and knowledge-transfer skills.

Desirable Skills

• Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi and vSAN.
• Experience building VMware clusters and migrating virtual machines, workloads, datastores and platform services.
• Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) and vSphere 9.
• Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud experience.
• Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Understanding of microservices and distributed application infrastructure.
• Experience integrating monitoring, logging and observability platforms.
• Experience with NFT environments, performance-testing infrastructure or production-like environment scaling.
• Experience defining migration cutover, rollback, validation and operational-readiness criteria.
