Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Backup & Recovery

• Brisbane-based opportunity with highly flexible hybrid working arrangements

• Quarterly travel to Papua New Guinea (PNG) is anticipated and is an inherent requirement of the role

• Travel and accommodation will be arranged, with a per diem allowance provided for PNG travel

• Initial 12 month contract

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Backup & Recovery to support a large, complex hybrid infrastructure services customer based in Papua New Guinea.

Working predominantly out of Brisbane in a Remote/Hybrid Structure, the role will work with key internal stakeholders and provide technical engineering services across backup, recovery and infrastructure resilience activities, with a particular focus on Veeam and HPE infrastructure. The successful candidate will bring broad infrastructure capability across Windows, virtualisation, storage and cloud environments and will work proactively to improve reliability, recoverability, monitoring, documentation and operational processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage, support and optimise enterprise backup and recovery platforms, with a strong focus on Veeam.

• Support backup infrastructure across physical, virtual and cloud environments.

• Administer and troubleshoot HPE server and storage infrastructure.

• Monitor backup performance, failures, capacity and overall platform health.

• Investigate recurring issues and implement preventative improvements.

• Perform and validate backup restoration and recovery activities.

• Support disaster recovery and infrastructure resilience activities.

• Maintain and improve technical documentation, procedures and operational runbooks.

• Work across Windows Server, VMware/Hyper-V, storage and hybrid cloud environments.

• Provide senior-level troubleshooting and technical guidance to the broader infrastructure team.

Skills & Experience

Essential

• Strong hands-on experience with Veeam Backup & Replication.

• Strong experience with HPE enterprise infrastructure.

• Solid Windows Server administration.

• Strong VMware and/or Hyper-V experience.

• Enterprise storage, backup and disaster recovery experience.

• Strong troubleshooting skills within complex infrastructure environments.

• Experience improving processes, documentation and operational practices.

Desirable

• Azure and/or AWS infrastructure experience.

• PowerShell or other infrastructure automation skills.

• Experience with enterprise monitoring platforms.
