Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Contract)

Summary

Owns application packaging and endpoint configuration for a federal agency migrating from legacy SCCM to Intune-managed Windows 11, focusing on hybrid-to-cloud device transitions, passwordless sign-in, and automation with PowerShell.

About the role
A federal agency in Canberra is modernising its desktop environment for thousands of staff, moving from a legacy SCCM-managed fleet to a fully Intune-managed Windows 11 SOE. As part of this, they need a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to own application packaging and endpoint configuration, working closely with the cyber security and identity teams as devices transition from hybrid-joined to a fully Entra-joined SOE with a passwordless sign-in experience.

Key responsibilities
  • Package, test and deploy applications using Microsoft Intune, covering both Win32 and MSIX formats
  • Configure and maintain Intune device management and compliance policies for Windows 11
  • Review SCCM/MECM deployment task sequences and extend Windows Autopilot automation
  • Write PowerShell scripts to automate deployment and operational tasks
  • Produce clear technical documentation, knowledge base articles and support guides
  • Provide senior level technical support for the SOE and endpoint management environment
About you
  • Extensive hands-on experience packaging and deploying Win32 and MSIX applications through Intune
  • Comfortable configuring and troubleshooting Intune for hybrid and cloud joined Windows 11 devices
  • Broad endpoint services experience across SOE, SCCM/MECM, Entra ID, DNS, DHCP and VPN
  • A strong technical writer, able to turn complex configuration into clear documentation
  • Able to work onsite in Canberra and hold or be able to obtain a government security clearance
  • Must be an Australian Citizen
What's on offer
A 12 month contract with two further 12 month extension options, working in a hybrid arrangement from a Canberra office. You will join a small, focused team modernising a large scale government desktop environment, with genuine ownership over how applications are packaged and deployed.
