Role Summary

Plan and support instrumentation and fire & gas (F&G) engineering activities at a senior engineer competency level during the EPC and start-up phase through handover to operations. Ensure project deliverables meet operational expectations in terms of safety, operability, reliability, and maintainability throughout the facility lifecycle.

Key Job Accountabilities

  • Provide instrumentation and fire & gas engineering support including:
    • Design reviews (e.g. HAZOP, SIL workshops, assessment and verification)
    • Commissioning and start-up activities
    • Failure analysis and advanced troubleshooting
  • Support the development and implementation of surveillance and administration programs for critical instrument and F&G systems to achieve high standards of:
    • Reliability
    • Availability
    • Cyber security
  • Support the definition and execution of integrity programs for instrument and F&G systems to ensure safe and reliable operations.
  • Provide technical input within the area of expertise to other disciplines and business functions as required.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities carried out by contractors, consultants, and service providers.
  • Guide and mentor junior engineers in applying integrity, reliability, and engineering systems.
  • Support the planning and execution of project tie-ins for systems under the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Maintain and manage an issue register, identifying and resolving critical issues and new technology risks that may impact system reliability, availability, or cyber security.
  • Support high-risk commissioning activities for large or complex projects by:
    • Conducting rigorous system surveillance
    • Tuning and optimization of instrument and F&G systems
    • Providing technical advisory support to operations and maintenance teams

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering.

Experience & Knowledge
Minimum of 6 years’ experience in an oil and gas or related industrial environment.
Strong working knowledge of:

  • Distributed control systems (DCS)
  • PLCs
  • Emergency shutdown and fire & gas systems
  • Anti-Surge control systems
  • Metering systems
  • Turbine and compressor control systems
  • Full understanding of SIL requirements
