Senior Integration Architect

Salary: $180,000 – $200,000 per year

We want to be upfront about what this role is — and what it is not.

This is not a solution architect role with integration as one of many responsibilities. This is a pure integration architecture seat inside a large, complex organisation that needs someone whose entire professional identity is enterprise integration. If that is you, read on.

The Opportunity

We are working exclusively with a well-established, large-scale retail and distribution business to appoint a Senior Integration Architect into their growing architecture function. This business runs a significant technology ecosystem — ERP, CRM, eCommerce, supply chain, data platforms — and needs someone who can own, govern, and evolve the integration layer that connects it all. On Azure. At scale. Across cloud and hybrid environments.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You will define integration standards, produce HLD/LLD specifications, shape event-driven architecture, govern API design across the organisation, and guide engineering teams through real delivery — not sit at a governance desk removed from execution.

What Pure Integration Architecture Looks Like in This Role

This role is not for someone who has touched integration as part of a broader solution architecture career. The hiring manager is specifically looking for someone for whom integration is the primary specialism — someone who has spent the majority of their career owning the integration layer of complex enterprise environments.

In practice that means:

  • You have defined and owned enterprise integration strategy, not contributed to it

  • You write the integration specs and HLD/LLD artefacts — you do not review what others have written

  • You have governed API standards across an organisation, not just designed APIs within a project

  • You have set integration patterns and ensured engineering teams follow them

  • Azure Integration Services is your primary delivery platform, not one of several tools you have used

What We Are Looking For

Essential:

  • Deep, hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure Integration Services — Logic Apps, APIM, Service Bus, Event Grid, Azure Functions, ADF — as your core delivery platform

  • A career history in enterprise integration architecture, not solution architecture with integration experience

  • Strong API design and governance ownership — REST, OAuth2, OpenID Connect, API lifecycle management

  • Proven experience integrating complex enterprise systems — ERP, WMS, TMS, Dynamics 365, Salesforce, SAP, EDI

  • Event-driven and microservices architecture you have defined and governed end-to-end

  • IaC experience — Terraform or Bicep — in real delivery contexts

  • The ability to produce detailed technical specifications that engineering teams can build from

Highly Regarded:

  • Experience in retail, distribution, or supply chain environments

  • Azure certifications — Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Integration Services

  • Experience migrating legacy integration platforms to cloud-native Azure patterns

  • Exposure to AKS and containerised integration workloads

Culture and Fit

This team values people who get things done. They are building a genuine integration capability for the long term and need an architect who wants to own that journey — not pass through it. Collaboration, pragmatism, and technical craft matter here.
