Senior Interceptor System Engineer

Discussion

Summary

A senior systems engineer who takes end-to-end ownership of an interceptor missile at a young defense-tech startup — defining system architecture (seeker, rocket motor, navigation & control), writing engineering specs (ICD, SRR), leading integration and lab/field trials, and supporting the system through operational deployment.

As Senior Interceptor System Engineer, you will take full responsibility for the interceptor missile, from the first architecture through deployment. You will lead its design and development, working across the seeker, rocket engine, navigation, and control subsystems with the teams that build them. This is a hands-on role in a young, growing company, for engineers who combine deep technical expertise with initiative, creativity, and a drive for performance.

The Mission

Your mission is to own the interceptor as one integrated system and prove it works: from architecture and requirements through lab and field trials to operational deployment.

Why Join Skapion?

Some problems are too urgent to wait. Skapion is a defense-tech company building a Native Counter-Swarm Platform, designed from the ground up to intercept and defeat the threat. We are backed by top-tier investors and recruiting at full steam.

  • Build it from day one. Shape the interceptor’s architecture instead of inheriting someone else’s. Your decisions will define the system.
  • See your work in the field. Take your system from requirements through lab and field trials to operational deployment.
  • Real, visible impact. In a focused team, your work matters directly to the mission and to the people who depend on it.
  • Growing fast. The people who join now will help set the standard for everything that comes next.

If you want to build something that matters, with people who know how, we’d love to meet you.

Responsibilities

  • Define and design the system architecture of an interceptor missile: subsystems including the seeker, rocket engine, and navigation and control systems, interface design, performance envelope definition, trials, and reliability tests.
  • Set system requirements, write engineering specifications (ICD, SRR, etc.), and work with the various development teams.
  • Lead system integration, conduct lab and field trials, and write performance reports.
  • Manage system-level risk and support integration and production processes.
  • Interface with internal and external customers, suppliers, and quality and safety stakeholders.
  • Track and support the system throughout its lifecycle, including maintenance, updates, and support during operational deployment.

Requirements

  • B.Sc. or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a missile or interceptor systems engineer.
  • Deep understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle: requirements definition, architecture, integration, testing, and release to production.
  • Experience writing and managing engineering documentation.
  • Experience working with multiple disciplines in the missile field: hardware, mechanics, algorithms, software, and control.
  • Leadership ability, independent work, high responsibility, and the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with quality standards and MIL-STD regulations.

Advantages

  • Experience leading a missile or interceptor program through to operational deployment.
  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Aerospace, Systems, or Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with lab and field trials, including data analysis and performance reporting.
  • Experience with seeker, guidance, or navigation and control systems.
  • Experience with formal requirements and documentation tools (ICD, SRR, or equivalent).
