Senior Interior Designer
Summary
Senior Interior Designer at KOFISI (a flexible workspace provider) in Cape Town or Johannesburg, managing a design team to take workspace projects from concept to completion. Day-to-day covers briefs, sourcing, client presentations and mood boards, plus Revit/AutoCAD technical, joinery and construction drawing packs.
Working directly with the Design & Build team both locally & internationally, alongside the Head of Design, to bring the companies vision and spaces to life. From sourcing, presentations & technical drawings, as a Senior Designer your role would be ‘a little bit of everything’.

Overall Duties and Responsibilities
The Senior Designer has a responsibility to manage a team to undertake design from concept to completion. They are expected to undertake the below tasks but not limited to, while working closely with the rest of the Design & Build Team to guard the brand look & feel in the center builds.
Understand project requirements & briefing.
Research and select project materials and products in a decisive and timely manner.
Assistance in space planning & test fit proposals for Client spaces and for KOFISI spaces.
Ability to understand and formulate design concepts and present for discussions.
Put together a visual presentation document to present effectively to clients.
Create sample mood boards
Assist with full drawing packs for construction. – Revit
Technical drawings including joinery. - Revit
MEP co-ordination and being able to communicate with specialists.
Use of excel to understand and interpret briefs.
Create accurate schedules for purchasing.
Show organized skills by taking meeting minutes as needed.
Work with 3D artists to produce renders if needed.
Produce working visuals and renders to assist in the Design progress.
Understand ergonomics and how people use and interact with spaces.
Bring new ideas into the brand, by looking at the international and industry standards.
Set and achieve deliverable deadlines and give regular updates to the Head Of Design on progress.
Meet and communicate with South African suppliers.
Clear Communication with team leaders and members, and be presentable to the team and the company.
Work with other departments, to ensure communication across teams is clear, to formulate accurate briefs.
Planning of botany and styling.
Able and willing to travel to various project locations.
Weekly catch up meetings with your project teams.
Check quality and assist with the workflows of your project teams.
Communicate and update clients on project progress.
Management of a team.
Requirements
Qualification & skills
Relevant Interior Design Qualification
Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, PowerPoint, Excel
Ability to read & interpret architectural, engineering and mechanical drawings
Understanding of interior design documentation
Strong organizational skills
Strong attention to detail
Problem solving and creative solution skills
Works well under pressure and can multi-task

Experience
Min 5 years of experience in the Interior Design industry (preferably hospitality or commercial design)
Experience with space planning for commercial office space
Strong interest in conceptual design, ideation of new spaces, and user-experience.
