Senior IT Administrator
Summary
The Senior IT Administrator manages and maintains the networking and datacenter infrastructure for Rohde & Schwarz Australia, including LAN/WAN, firewalls, and Windows servers. The role involves leading IT projects, ensuring security compliance, and providing L2/L3 support while working with global teams.
The Role
Reporting to the head of IT (Australia) The Senior IT Administrator is responsible for planning, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of all Rohde & Schwarz Australia’s networking and datacenter infrastructure which supports the organization’s day to day operations.
Key Responsibilities
Design and manage our LAN, WAN, and Firewall setups. We primarily use Aruba, Checkpoint, and Cisco, ensuring everything is redundant and secure.
Handle the day-to-day management of Windows Servers, Hypervisors, and cloud services.
Strengthening and maintaining security standards (ISO 27001/DISP), managing patches, and running vulnerability scans.
Work with our global teams to manage security threats via SIEM and EDR tools.
Manage our enterprise backup platforms and lead our Disaster Recovery (DR) testing.
Lead mid-sized IT projects, such as rolling out new infrastructure or applications.
(L2/L3) support for our Australian staff, including monthly local travel and an annual trip to Germany.
The Person
We are seeking a technical leader who balances strategic oversight with a hands-on approach to problem-solving. You possess the ability to translate complex technical challenges into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
A track record of leading IT infrastructure projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and meet all capacity and security requirements.
Experience with Checkpoint Firewalls is essential to this role
Experience with Aruba Routers and Cisco switching is desirable. The ability to rapidly diagnose and resolve complex network and system failures in high-pressure environments The ability to rapidly diagnose and resolve complex network and system failures in high-pressure environments.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
Extensive experience in both enterprise network and system administration. Can demonstrate where networking has been a primary role.
