The Otipemisiwak Métis Government is recruiting for a full-time Senior IT Analyst to join the Facilities and Building Operations Team. Reporting to the IT Manager, the Senior IT Analyst will play a key role in developing, implementing, and supporting technology solutions that advance the strategic and operational priorities of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government. Working closely with the IT Manager, business leaders, and external vendors, the successful candidate will lead advanced systems analysis, solution design, systems integration, data management, business process improvement, and enterprise application support. The Senior IT Analyst is responsible for gathering and translating business requirements into technical specifications. The Senior IT Analyst will also evaluate emerging technologies, develop scalable and secure solutions, and ensure systems align with organizational objectives, governance standards, and cybersecurity best practices.
The Senior IT Analyst will provide technical support for complex IT initiatives by leading projects from planning through implementation, coordinating cross-functional stakeholders, and ensuring successful delivery of technology solutions. The successful candidate will have expertise in advanced systems analysis, data governance, project management, technical architecture, systems integration, reporting and analytics, vendor management, and process automation, and have strong communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise technology solutions, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives, security standards, and best practices.
- Analyze complex business requirements and translate them into detailed functional specifications, technical designs, and Statements of Work (SOWs).
- Design, implement, and support integrations between enterprise applications, cloud platforms, databases, and legacy systems to ensure secure and reliable data exchange.
- Develop advanced SQL queries, data models, dashboards, and reports using business intelligence tools such as Power BI to support strategic decision-making.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and technical solutions using PowerShell, Python, SQL, or other programming languages to improve efficiency and reduce manual processes.
- Provide technical expertise to cloud-based infrastructure and enterprise applications within Microsoft Azure, including architecture, administration, and optimization.
- Champion complex troubleshooting and root cause analysis of applications, infrastructure, network, and system integration issues, implementing sustainable long-term solutions.
- Ensure enterprise systems comply with cybersecurity frameworks, data governance standards, privacy legislation, and organizational security policies through ongoing risk assessment and technical controls.
- Address the organization’s Software Asset Management (SAM) needs by maintaining an accurate software inventory, managing software licensing and compliance, optimizing software utilization and costs, supporting software audits, and establishing governance processes for software procurement, lifecycle management, and vendor compliance.
- Manage third-party technology vendors and service providers, including solution evaluations, contract deliverables, system implementations, incident resolution, and service performance.
- Provide technical support to analysts and project teams while developing technical standards, system documentation, architectural diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Communicate complex technical concepts, solution architectures, and technology recommendations to business leaders and stakeholders. Enabling informed decision-making and continuous business process improvement.
- Participate in and support the overall strategic direction of the Facilities and Building Operations department and Otipemisiwak Métis Government.
- Other duties as required or assigned.
Skills & Competencies
- Advanced knowledge of enterprise systems analysis, solution architecture, systems integration, and technical design principles.
- Proficiency in SQL, database management, data modeling, and business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms, including Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 265, Entra ID, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Python, SQL, or similar programming languages.
- Knowledge of APIs, web services, enterprise application integration, and data exchange technologies.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, identity and access management, data governance, privacy legislation, and security best practices.
- Experience with Software Asset Management (SAM), including software licensing, compliance, lifecycle management, software audits, and vendor management.
- Experience developing and implementing enterprise technology projects using Agile, Scrum, ITIL, or other project management methodologies.
- Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills with the ability to resolve complex technical and system integration issues.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear solutions.
- Knowledge of Métis history, culture, and issues affecting Métis people. An in-depth understanding of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government and Métis culture, people, and values is an asset.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum of five to seven (5 – 7) years of experience in systems analysis, enterprise applications, systems integration, infrastructure, or technical solution delivery.
- Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2, Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or Agile certification is an asset.
- Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Google Cloud Professional is an asset.
- Software Asset Management certifications such as CSAM, IAITAM Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM), or ITAM Foundation certification is an asset.
Other Requirements
- Position is based in Edmonton; in-office presence is required.
- Ability to work a regular schedule of Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM.
- Occasional evenings and weekends is required, with notice.
- Reliable transportation and a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Ability to travel within Alberta.
- Acceptable attainment of a Police Information Check is required.
