OAS is seeking an experienced Senior IT Analyst to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Database Program. This position provides operations and maintenance (O&M), web application sustainment, user experience (UX) design, release management, and end-user enablement support for a federal airport data management system and related web applications.
The selected candidate will play a key role in maintaining a highly reliable operational environment while enhancing user experiences, supporting accessibility compliance requirements, coordinating software releases, and developing training resources for FAA stakeholders. This role requires a blend of technical operations expertise, customer-focused design capabilities, and software release management experience.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Maintenance (O&M)
- Provide operational and maintenance support across development, testing, and production environments.
- Sustain applications, utility modules, web services, APIs, and system integrations that support airport data collection, management, and distribution.
- Monitor system performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Administer user access controls, notification services, and integration services.
- Ensure data traceability, auditability, and change management processes are maintained.
- Support data governance activities by:
- Validating data integrity
- Monitoring data quality
- Maintaining data collection workflows
- Generating system utilization metrics and operational reports
- Troubleshoot operational issues and coordinate corrective actions to maintain system availability.
Website Design & User Experience (UI/UX)
- Design, implement, and maintain responsive web experiences across desktop, tablet, and mobile platforms.
- Support a consistent visual design framework and user experience across the application portfolio.
- Develop intuitive user interfaces that optimize data accessibility and usability.
- Ensure compliance with:
- Section 508 Accessibility Requirements
- WCAG 2.1 Level AA Standards
- Federal accessibility and usability guidelines
- Support compatibility with assistive technologies and accessibility testing efforts.
- Apply user-centered design principles, including:
- Persona-driven design approaches
- Mobile-first development strategies
- Role-based dashboards and workflows
- User feedback analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
Training & User Enablement
- Develop and maintain end-user training materials, including:
- User guides
- Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
- Newsletters
- Quick-reference materials
- Training videos and multimedia resources
- Support development and delivery of user training sessions.
- Collect and analyze user feedback to improve application usability and adoption.
- Coordinate communication activities related to system enhancements and new feature releases.
Release & Configuration Management
- Support release management activities throughout the software lifecycle.
- Verify operational readiness, system performance, and compliance requirements prior to deployment.
- Maintain release schedules, deployment documentation, and software repositories.
- Identify, track, and mitigate release-related risks.
- Support deployment automation initiatives and release management tooling.
- Coordinate with government production support organizations and development teams to ensure successful deployments.
- Assist with configuration management activities and software version control processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business Systems, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, IT Management, or another information technology-related discipline.
- Engineering, Mathematics, or Science degrees may be substituted.
- Eight (8) years of relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Operations and maintenance of enterprise web applications
- API management and systems integration
- User experience (UX) and responsive web design
- Front-end application delivery and usability improvements
- Software release management and deployment activities
- End-user training and technical enablement
- Strong knowledge of:
- Section 508 accessibility requirements
- WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards
- Data validation and data quality management practices
- System performance monitoring and operational support
- Configuration management and software release processes
- Federal software development and deployment environments
- Ability to support a multi-application production environment with a high degree of reliability and data integrity.
- Ability to deliver intuitive, role-based user experiences across multiple devices and user communities.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain FAA Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credentials and access Sensitive Unclassified Information (SUI).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting FAA programs or other federal aviation-related systems.
- Experience with modern front-end frameworks and enterprise design systems.
- Experience supporting:
- Application monitoring and telemetry platforms
- Performance analytics and reporting tools
- CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
- Familiarity with airport operations, aviation data management, or federal transportation systems.
- Relevant industry certifications, such as:
- ITIL Foundation
- CompTIA Security+
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)
- Other related technology or project management certifications
Education & Experience Equivalencies
The following substitutions may be applied:
- Master's degree in a related discipline may substitute for two (2) years of required experience.
- Ph.D. in a related discipline may substitute for four (4) years of required experience.
- Six (6) years of additional relevant experience beyond the minimum requirement may substitute for a Bachelor's degree.
Location: Remote within the Washington, DC metro area
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $105,000 - $133,000 yearly
Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance. FAA PIV card and access to Sensitive Unclassified Information (SUI) required.
