Senior IT Developer- Java

Our client within the banking sector is seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to support the modernization and migration of critical pricing and settlement systems. The consultant will play a key role in transforming legacy application logic into scalable, maintainable solutions while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial processing.

The assignment involves close collaboration with business stakeholders, product owners, QA teams, and infrastructure specialists to deliver compliant and robust solutions within a complex financial environment.

Location: Helsinki, Finland
Work Model: Hybrid, minimum 3 days per week onsite
Start Date: 16 November 2026
End Date: 15 February 2027 (extension possible)

About the assignment

• Design, develop, and maintain components of the pricing engine, with a strong focus on migrating legacy functionality to modern platforms.

• Design and implement cash flow generation and cash instruction logic.

• Analyze legacy applications and processes to identify migration strategies and refactoring opportunities.

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools, including coding assistants and LLM-based analysis tools, to accelerate development, migration, testing, and documentation.

• Collaborate with business, product, QA, and infrastructure teams to ensure pricing, settlement, and booking logic is implemented accurately and compliantly.

• Produce clear and maintainable technical documentation.

• Support testing, validation, deployment, and rollout activities with minimal impact on production environments.

Your profile, must haves:

Important: We are specifically looking for a developer who has hands-on experience implementing cash booking flows within a financial institution. The ideal consultant understands how to construct complete debit/credit booking instructions from business events and route them to downstream booking or ledger systems.

Experience with the following will be highly valued:

• Account mapping

• Accounting parameters

• Financial message structures

• Booking validation processes

• Financial messaging standards such as ISO 20022

Additionally, the consultant should have:

• Strong software development experience using:

  • Java 8+

  • Spring Boot

  • Hibernate/JPA

  • SQL

  • Oracle Database

  • ReactJS (advantageous)

• Experience working with banking or financial systems.

• Understanding of cash flows, settlements, payment instructions, or similar financial processes.

• Practical experience using AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar platforms for development, refactoring, testing, and documentation.

• Ability to critically assess and validate AI-generated code and recommendations.

• Experience working with complex, rules-driven business logic.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Preferred qualifications:

• Previous experience within banking or financial services.

• Familiarity with pricing engines, trade processing, settlement platforms, or related financial systems.

• Experience migrating applications from mainframe or other legacy platforms.

• Experience building or customizing AI-assisted engineering workflows and development tooling.
