Senior IT Engineer
Salary: £48,000 - 55,000 per year
Requirements:- We require solid 3rd line support experience.
- We require hands-on server experience, including virtualisation, storage, and backups.
- We require in-depth knowledge of Windows Server operating systems.
- We require strong knowledge of Active Directory installation and configuration.
- We require strong knowledge of wired and wireless networking, including VPN tunnels, VLANs, managed switches, and firewalls.
- We require experience deploying and configuring Microsoft 365 services, including SharePoint, Teams, Exchange Online, and Azure.
- We require experience configuring and managing enterprise backup and recovery solutions such as Veeam.
- We require VoIP experience.
- We require the ability to present technical capability clearly to non-technical customers in plain English.
- We require a calm approach under pressure.
- We require a full UK driving licence and access to our own car.

- Desirable: experience with Microsoft Azure and/or Microsoft Fabric.

- Desirable: experience configuring and supporting a Microsoft Hyper-V environment.
- Desirable: experience planning and managing IT projects.

- We require 3 years of 3rd line / senior infrastructure support experience.
- We prefer 1 year of experience building or maintaining APIs.
- We prefer 2 years of experience in data centre environments.
- We act as the senior escalation point for support tickets and onsite work when issues go beyond standard support.
- We own and maintain our server cluster in rented rack space, including performance, resilience, and the day-to-day health of multiple RDS environments.
- We provide networking expertise across switching, routing, firewalls, and VPNs.
- We install and configure firewalls and networks, including VPN tunnels, VLANs, and managed switches.
- We plan and roll out new servers and services from initial build through to production, including at customer premises.
- We deploy and configure Microsoft 365 services, including SharePoint, Teams, Exchange Online, and Azure.
- We lead complex projects including Microsoft 365 migrations, Microsoft Fabric implementations, and VoIP platform migrations.
- We configure and manage enterprise backup and recovery solutions such as Veeam.
- We take part in an on-call rota for server and network infrastructure issues only.
- We attend meetings with potential new customers to explain our technical capability and help win new business.
- We work closely with the wider team, sharing knowledge and supporting less experienced engineers as they develop.
- We step in to support the team and handle customer enquiries when the CTO is unavailable.

We are a small, close-knit team working in a varied, hands-on infrastructure role where everyone pitches in. We rent rack space in a data centre that hosts our server cluster and multiple RDS environments, and we also deliver technical projects for customers. This is a hybrid remote role based in Wolverhampton, with full-time hours and a salary of £48,000 to £55,000 per year.
