Senior IT Service Engineer / Systems Administrator

The Senior IT Service Engineer will design, implement, and support complex client infrastructure, including servers, networks, and Microsoft 365 environments. This hands-on role involves leading technical projects, providing advanced troubleshooting, and mentoring junior staff in a managed services environment.
EHW Technology is seeking an experienced and technically skilled Senior IT Service Engineer / Systems Administrator to join our team in Mackay.
As a senior member of our technical team, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, supporting, and improving complex client environments across a broad range of technologies. You'll work closely with clients, lead technical projects, provide advanced troubleshooting and escalation support, and help shape technology solutions that deliver real business outcomes.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining, securing, and optimising client infrastructure, including servers, networks, cloud platforms, Microsoft 365 environments, and business-critical systems. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to lead technical initiatives, mentor junior team members, and contribute to the ongoing growth and development of our managed services offering.
To be Successful in this Role, You Will Have:
A minimum of 5 years' experience in a Systems Administrator, Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, or similar senior technical role.
Proven experience supporting and administering Microsoft Windows Server environments.
Strong Microsoft 365, Azure, Exchange and Intune administration skills.
Advanced knowledge of networking technologies, including VLAN/routing.
Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining business-critical infrastructure solutions.
Strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices, backup and disaster recovery solutions, and infrastructure resilience.
Experience managing technical projects, migrations, upgrades, and infrastructure deployments.
Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and customer relationship management abilities, with the confidence to engage directly with business owners, managers, and stakeholders.
The ability to mentor and support junior technicians while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
A current Australian Driver's Licence.

Highly Regarded
Microsoft, Sophos, HP, HyperV & VMWare, or other relevant industry certifications.
Experience working within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment.
Experience with VoIP, business telecommunications systems, and cloud communications platforms.
Experience developing technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
Mackay-Based Position
This position is based in Mackay, Queensland and requires attendance at our office and customer sites throughout the region. As this is a hands-on role involving client engagement, project delivery, and collaboration with the wider team, remote or work-from-home arrangements are not available for this position.
