Senior Java Applications Developer
Summary
Senior Java developer on Citi's Event Master Central team, building microservices that consolidate and distribute corporate action events across the enterprise. Day-to-day work centers on Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, REST APIs, SQL, CI/CD and testing, in a hybrid model (3 office days) in Northern Ireland.
About the team:
Event Master Central is Citi’s centralized corporate action event repository and distribution platform that consolidates corporate action announcements and notifications from various vendors with cross-business operational process. As a critical pillar within the Master Reference Data (MRD) and the broader Citi Enterprise Data Organization (EDO), our team is responsible for modernizing and managing the end-to-end lifecycle of corporate Action events across the enterprise.
What you will do:
- Develop and implement complex software solutions using Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, and RESTful web services.
- Design, develop, and maintain robust microservices adhering to architectural best practices.
- Apply hands‑on expertise in Core Java, including multi-threading and the Collections framework.
- Utilize Spring Framework effectively for application development.
- Work extensively in creating and optimizing SQL queries.
- Ensure adherence to software engineering best practices, object-oriented programming (OOP) principles, and design patterns.
- Contribute to the continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Manage source code effectively using tools such as Git or Bitbucket.
- Promote and apply clean coding principles and maintain high quality using tools like Sonar.
- Design and implement comprehensive unit, integration, and functional tests to ensure solution quality.
- Analyze and solve complex technical problems efficiently.
- Work with a team of application developers, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Key Skills and Experience required:
- Experience in developing and implementing complex software solutions.
- Strong knowledge of Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, and RESTful web services (XML, JSON).
- Proven experience working with Microservices Architecture.
- Hands‑on experience with Core Java, Multi-threading, Collections framework, and Spring Framework.
- Solid understanding of software engineering best practices, OOP, design patterns, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with source code management tools (Git).
- Understanding of clean coding principles and code quality measurements using tools like Sonar.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement unit, integration, and functional tests.
- A strong, solution-driven mindset with the ability to analyze complex problems, devise strategic solutions, and lead their implementation.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Advantages:
- Experience with AI technology (Devin, Co Pilot)
- Understanding of Cloud-native development principles.
- Experience with Container Orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc.).
- Proficiency in using Jira for tracking tasks, managing backlogs, and participating in sprint cycles.
