Senior Java backend developer on a bank Risk-department project to modernize the platform that loads, certifies, and publishes the bank's P&L results. Day-to-day work involves Java/Spring Boot services, SQL databases, SingleStore, Kafka, and OpenShift, with automated testing in an Agile/TDD environment.

We are looking for a Senior Java Backend Developer – P&L Systems
Join a modernization project within the Risk department, developing a platform responsible for loading, certifying, and publishing the bank’s Profit & Loss (P&L) results.
- Develop and modernize backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Contribute to the redesign of core P&L processing and data integration workflows.
- Work with SingleStore DB, Kafka, and OpenShift as part of the platform’s modernization.
- Analyze application requirements and deliver reliable solutions aligned with software development best practices.
- Build and maintain automated tests in an Agile and TDD environment.
- Identify opportunities to improve existing processes, application performance, and maintainability.
- Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle.
- University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 6 years of experience in Java backend development.
- Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot.
- Solid SQL skills and experience with relational databases, such as SQL Server or Sybase.
- Strong experience developing automated tests using TDD and/or BDD approaches.
- Experience with distributed data technologies, such as Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, or Kafka, is highly valued.
- Knowledge of microservices, containers, ETL processes, and CI/CD is highly valued.
- Previous experience or knowledge of Financial Services is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills, a proactive attitude, and an innovative mindset.
- Fluency in English, with a minimum B2 level required.
- French language skills are a plus.
- Position based in Porto.
