Senior Java Backend Engineer (DEX)

Summary

Build and optimize the core server-side architecture for a high-performance decentralized exchange (DEX), focusing on ultra-low latency, high concurrency, and robust security using Java, LMAX Disruptor, and Kafka.

We are seeking a seasoned Backend Engineer with deep expertise in decentralized finance (DeFi) to lead the architectural design and development of our client's high-performance DEX platform. You will be responsible for building the core components of a world-class trading environment, focusing on ultra-low latency, high concurrency, and uncompromising security.

Key Responsibilities

Architectural Leadership: Design and develop the core server-side architecture for a Decentralized Exchange (DEX).

Core Module Engineering: Lead the implementation of critical modules, including matching engines, order books, market data broadcasting, risk management, and clearing/settlement systems.

Infrastructure & Connectivity: Develop and maintain high-performance trading gateways (REST/WebSocket), market data feeds, and K-line services.

Performance Optimization: Ensure the stability and performance of high‑concurrency, low‑latency trading systems through rigorous JVM tuning and system‑level optimizations.

Resilience & Security: Build foundational capabilities for data persistence, comprehensive logging, automated backups, and robust disaster recovery protocols.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Smart Contract and Frontend teams to ensure seamless end‑to‑end integration across the entire trading lifecycle.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

Java Expertise: 8+ years of professional Java development experience, with mastery of multi‑threading, concurrency models, and JVM performance tuning.

DEX Domain Knowledge: 3+ years of direct experience in DEX/Exchange server‑side development, with a deep understanding of matching, clearing, and risk control workflows.

High‑Performance Frameworks: Proven experience with LMAX Disruptor, Chronicle, or similar high‑performance frameworks; familiarity with Exchange‑core architectures is essential.

Data Management: Expertise in MySQL, Redis, and MongoDB, including advanced database design, index optimization, and distributed transaction management.

System Reliability: Deep understanding of multi‑active database deployments and disaster recovery; ability to lead team‑wide emergency drills.

Messaging & Streaming: Proficiency in Kafka (consumer groups, partitioning, persistence) and real‑time data processing.

Cloud & DevOps: Hands‑on experience with Docker and Kubernetes (Deployment, Service, Ingress, Monitoring); proficiency with AWS or Alibaba Cloud ecosystems (EC2/ECS, RDS, OSS).

Preferred Attributes (Bonus)

Experience with EVM‑based on‑chain settlement, Oracles, and off‑chain data integration.

Familiarity with modern observability stacks, including Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK.

Polyglot capabilities: Ability to develop stable auxiliary services in Golang or Node.js for on‑chain data retrieval and analysis.
