Senior Java Backend Engineer
Summary
Senior Java backend engineer for a 6-month contract (extendable, start mid-November) building and scaling a client's Voice Provider platform — designing robust, scalable backend services and APIs for production speech-generation tech. Remote work allowed but you must be based in Sweden.
We are looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to join our distributed team across Europe working alongside engineers, research scientists, and product teams to build and scale our clients emerging Voice Provider platform. As an integral part of the team, you'll help design and deliver robust backend services that bring state-of-the-art speech generation technology into production. We're looking for someone who can independently drive technical decisions, take ownership of backend architecture and delivery, and thrive in a collaborative team environment.
What You'll Do:
Design, develop, and deliver robust and scalable backend systems and APIs that support voice generation services.
Build and evolve backend infrastructure to support reliable, production-grade voice capabilities for enterprise customers.
Collaborate with engineers, research scientists, product owners, and designers to prototype and productionize emerging AI and speech technologies.
Help improve the scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency of our backend services.
Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code, adhering to coding best practices.
Participate in the improvement of our software development standards and practices.
Be a member of the wide backend developer community, contributing to architectural decisions and best practices.
Who You Are:
You have experience writing distributed, high-volume Java services and know how to deploy and keep them running in production.
You have experience designing and building scalable backend systems and APIs.
You have a good understanding of data structures and algorithms, and know how to apply them to design pragmatic solutions.
You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and can communicate your ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.
You enjoy working in environments where you can experiment, iterate quickly, and help bring new technologies into production.
You care about reliability, performance, and quality, and know what it means to ship high-quality production code.
Experience working with ML-powered services, speech technologies, or enterprise platforms is a plus, but not required.
Start/End: Mid November, might be some flex around it. 6 months contract with possibility for extension.
Workplace: For this role you can work remote, however you need to be based in Sweden.
