We are looking for a Senior Java Backend Engineer to join a small, autonomous engineering team working on large-scale, distributed systems.

Job Details
Job Type: Contract basis (2 year)
Joining: Immediate joiners only
Work Permit: Valid work permit in Sweden is mandatory
Opportunity: Long-term contract opportunity
Key Requirements
5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong backend expertise
Deep knowledge of Java and JVM, including: JVM memory management, Garbage Collection (GC), Concurrency, Performance tuning, Virtual threads
Strong experience building and scaling customer-facing web services
Solid understanding of distributed systems and distributed data architectures
Experience with Cassandra, Redis, Memcached, or similar technologies
Experience building REST services using Netty or similar frameworks
Hands-on experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and software delivery
Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a fast-changing environment
Nice to Have
Cryptography/security knowledge: PKCS, KMIP, X.509, AES, KDF, CA
Exposure to ML systems/frameworks
Experience with GitHub, Maven, Docker, Kubernetes, Spinnaker
Experience with privacy-sensitive or security-critical systems
