Our client, a software vendor in the security space, is seeking an experienced Backend Developer with a telecoms background to design, build and run high-volume data services. This is an end-to-end ownership role: you’ll shape new features alongside users, ship them in short iterations, and keep them running reliably in production.
What you’ll do
- Design and build services that process and store large volumes of data, including telecoms signalling and media traffic, choosing the right storage technology for each job
- Maintain and improve existing services for performance, stability and data integrity
- Troubleshoot production issues across code, infrastructure, networks and databases
- Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code within a peer-review culture
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, customers and end users
What you’ll bring
- 5+ years’ professional software development, with Java (8+) as your primary language
- Telecoms experience, with hands-on knowledge of 3GPP standards and SIP/RTP protocols
- Solid experience across relational (SQL) and NoSQL databases
- Proven track record building distributed, microservice-based and event-driven systems
- Strong grasp of architecture, design patterns and trade-offs
- Hands-on Docker, Linux and command-line proficiency
- Observability experience with Prometheus and Grafana
- Understanding of Mechanical Sympathy and working knowledge of low-level network programming
Nice to have: IMS, VoLTE/VoNR, Diameter or SS7 exposure; Spring Boot; Kafka, RabbitMQ, NSQ or ActiveMQ; MongoDB and Elasticsearch; Spark, Iceberg or data warehouse design; S3-style object storage; Ansible and Kubernetes; Python.
