Senior Java Developer

Role Overview

The Senior Java Software Engineer plays a key role in designing, developing, and deploying end-to-end software solutions that deliver meaningful impact across client environments. The role combines strong technical expertise with problem-solving and leadership, contributing to high-quality delivery and architectural alignment. As a senior team member, the position supports collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within high-performing engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibility 1: Software Development & Delivery

• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable software solutions using Java and related technologies
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code aligned to engineering best practices
• Contribute to system design, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making
• Ensure high-quality delivery across the full software development lifecycle

Responsibility 2: Technical Leadership & Problem Solving

• Provide technical guidance and support to engineering teams
• Solve complex technical challenges and optimise system performance
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear communication for team members and clients
• Promote best practices in software engineering and design

Responsibility 3: Collaboration & Team Contribution

• Work closely with cross-functional teams across development, QA, and delivery
• Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team culture
• Engage with client stakeholders where required

Responsibility 4: Continuous Improvement & Innovation

• Stay up to date with industry trends, tools, and frameworks
• Contribute to improving development practices and delivery processes
• Support innovation across projects and technical domains

Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

• 6+ years’ experience in software engineering at an intermediate to senior level
• Strong expertise in Java and JavaScript using object-oriented programming principles
• Experience with at least one modern framework (e.g., Java, Node, React, Angular)
• Exposure to a range of front-end and back-end development tools
• Strong technical understanding with ability to communicate complex concepts
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or related field
• Industry-recognised certifications
• Cloud platform certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure)
• Experience across diverse technical environments and toolsets

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (advantageous)
• Equivalent practical experience considered
