Senior Java Developer

We are looking for a Senior Java Developer with 5 to 15 years of professional experience to join our high-performing team. This role requires solid expertise in Java, Spring Framework, SQL, Test-Driven Development (TDD), and multi-threading. Experience in the banking and investment sector is strongly preferred. You will work on complex, high-performance financial systems that drive critical operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Software Development: Develop, manage, and improve enterprise-level Java applications. Leverage Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Security) to build scalable and secure solutions. Write efficient, high-performance SQL queries and optimize database interactions. Develop multi-threaded applications to handle concurrent operations.

Test-Driven Development (TDD): Write clear, testable code according to TDD principles. Develop and maintain robust unit and integration tests. Ensure code quality through automated testing and peer code reviews.

Domain-Specific Solutions: Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to translate financial domain requirements into technical specifications. Work on financial systems such as trading platforms, risk management tools, and settlement systems. Optimize applications for performance and low latency, which is essential for banking and investment operations.

Collaboration and Leadership: Collaborate with DevOps, QA, and product teams to ensure seamless delivery. Contribute to technical discussions.

Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date on emerging technologies and best practices in financial technology.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Must-haves: 5 to 15 years of hands-on experience in Java development. Proficiency in Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security). Advanced knowledge of SQL and database performance optimization. Expertise in Test-Driven Development (TDD) and writing unit/integration tests. Solid experience with multi-threading, concurrent programming, and low-latency systems. Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), design patterns, and architectural principles. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Bilingual in French and English.

Assets: Previous experience in the banking and investment sector. Familiarity with the FIX protocol, trading platforms, or risk management systems. Knowledge of messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or ActiveMQ. Experience with profiling and performance optimization tools. Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies.

This is a hybrid role based in Montreal, with 3 days in the office.

Information Security Responsibilities Promote and enforce awareness of key information security practices, including acceptable use of information assets, malware protection, and password security protocols Identify, assess, and report security risks, focusing on how these risks impact the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets Understand and evaluate how data is stored, processed, or transmitted, ensuring compliance with data privacy and protection standards (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) Ensure data protection measures are integrated throughout the information lifecycle to safeguard sensitive information
