Overview

Senior Java Developer to strengthen the engineering function of a financial services client. You will reshape the post-trade platform, APIs, client portal, and reporting while integrating existing and third-party trading components. You’ll lead technically, mentor peers, and work across cloud-native stacks with AI-enabled development. Expect hands-on coding, architecture decisions, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Build and support in-house systems, APIs, reporting tools, and client portal
  • Adapt and integrate third-party trading systems as needed
  • Write clean, thoroughly tested code following SOLID, design patterns and clean code
  • Work with microservices and event-driven architectures
  • Utilise cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and Terraform for infrastructure
  • Apply TDD/BDD, maintain high test coverage with JUnit/Spock and Mockito
  • Participate in code reviews to raise team quality
  • Collaborate with Client Services and Product Management to translate requirements into solutions
  • Coach and guide a team of developers and collaborate with offshore colleagues across time zones
  • Explain technical concepts to both developers and senior non-technical stakeholders
  • Prioritise fixes by identifying root causes and managing technical debt
  • Drive continuous improvement and champion quality and ownership
Key requirements
  • Java development experience within financial services
  • Java 11+, Spring Boot, multi-threading, profiling, performance tuning, RMI
  • Hands-on experience with microservices and event-driven architectures
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and Terraform
  • Track record with TDD, Agile and automated build/deployment practices
  • Practical experience with JUnit/Spock and Mockito
  • Solid grasp of SOLID, Design Patterns, Clean Code and TDD; CI/CD practices
