Senior Java Developer - Enterprise Data (Hybrid)

Detroit Labs is looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer focusing on enterprise data to join an ongoing engagement with an existing automotive client. This role sits within the client's Enterprise Data team, building and maintaining the services and microservices that move and integrate data across the business. You'll work alongside a technical delivery lead and a cross-functional project team, designing solutions that hold up under real production loads.

Requirements
- 7+ years software engineering experience with enterprise systems, including 5+ years of Java development and integration
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable web applications and microservices using Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA, and Spring Batch
- Ability to design, develop, deploy, test, and maintain technical assets in an SOA environment
- UML skills and ability to facilitate OO/J2EE design, following best practices and design patterns
- Experience integrating with and managing APIs that expose microservices (REST, SOAP), including development and support of Java/JavaScript services
- Solid understanding of Enterprise Service Bus concepts
- IBM DataPower and API gateways
- UML modeling and the Eclipse IDE
- Familiarity with WebSphere, JBoss, and Tomcat
- Authentication and authorization protocols (SSO, SAML, OAuth, OIDC)
- Experience with relational databases (Oracle, MySQL)
- Comfort with scripting languages such as Unix shell scripting or Perl
- Experience with cloud and continuous integration tooling (SVN/Git, Jira, Jenkins, Maven, etc.), Kafka for real-time data pipelines and event-driven architectures, integrating with AWS services such as SQS and SES
- Familiarity with event-based System of Engagement architectures
- Implementing caching solutions with Redis
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, unit test, and integrate applications and microservices with a focus on scalable, high-quality code that meets both functional and non-functional requirements using Java, Springboot, and related technologies/frameworks
- Build configurable software services that let applications integrate with enterprise systems
- Identify and analyze technical issues, and coordinate resolution with extended team members across other applications
- Apply secure development practices and established design patterns
- Build process and data flow diagrams to map data movement and capture
- Develop and implement secure RESTful APIs, following best practices for API design, security, and performance
- Build real-time data pipelines and event-driven architectures using Kafka
- Integrate with AWS services such as SQS and SES for message queuing and email delivery
- Collaborate with the project team and business users as needed, translate business requirements into technical design
