IT Solutions Engineer

We are looking for an experienced IT Solutions Engineer to join a major enterprise transformation programme within a highly regulated environment. This hands‑on role combines solution architecture, software engineering expertise, and technical leadership.

Working closely with the core product team in Dresden, Germany, along with business stakeholders and distributed delivery teams across Europe and the UK, you will design, evolve, and modernise enterprise‑scale platforms while ensuring high performance, scalability, and maintainability.

Expected work locations: 2–3 weeks in Dresden for onboarding, followed by quarterly 1‑week visits to Dresden, with remote work otherwise.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and drive solution architecture for enterprise applications
• Lead technical design activities and support implementation across distributed teams
• Contribute to the modernisation and evolution of complex legacy systems
• Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure and high performing
• Collaborate closely with developers, architects, QA, DevOps and business stakeholders
• Support delivery throughout the full software development lifecycle
• Promote engineering best practice and architectural standards across teams

Qualifications & Experience

Select candidates will have 7+ years of enterprise software development and solution architecture experience, a strong Java background (Java 11/17, Java EE / Jakarta EE), and proven success in designing and delivering enterprise‑scale applications. Excellent database design and development expertise, especially with PostgreSQL, is essential. Hands‑on experience with Eclipse RCP, SWT and JFace, and WildFly Application Server is required. Additional experience with JPA/Hibernate, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Maven, and Azure DevOps is advantageous.

Applicants should demonstrate a solid understanding of software architecture, object‑oriented design principles, and design patterns, and have led the modernisation of legacy systems and supported long‑term technology roadmaps. They must be collaborative communicators comfortable working with geographically distributed teams and engaging effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Travel & Location

Initial onboarding will take place in Dresden and will require a 2–3 week stay on‑site. Following onboarding, business travel to Dresden is expected approximately once per quarter.
