Senior Java developer building and maintaining enterprise systems in Spring Boot, Kafka, and PostgreSQL for a major European agency in Strasbourg.

We are actively seeking a Senior Java Developer for a long-term freelance contract within a major European agency.

Based in Strasbourg, you will join an international technical team and contribute to ambitious, high-stakes projects in an evolving technological environment that values technical excellence, rigour, and knowledge sharing.

Your responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust software components in Java, based on defined technical specifications and ensuring their documentation.
  • Ensure the integration of technological components with one another and with third-party systems, while maintaining the consistency and reliability of the application architecture.
  • Contribute to code quality by actively participating in code reviews, applying development best practices, and strengthening application security.
  • Design and execute unit and integration tests, including through automation scripts, to ensure the reliability of deliverables in development environments.
  • Support and mentor junior developers within the team, fostering technical cohesion and knowledge transfer.
  • Contribute to the preparation and updating of technical documentation (components, installation and operational manuals) and provide support during deployment and configuration phases.

Your profile:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in IT, including at least 5 years in software and application development.
  • Strong proficiency in Java and associated technologies: Spring Boot, Kafka / IBM Event Stream, PostgreSQL, Istio.
  • Good knowledge of multi-tier web environments, web services, and APIs.
  • Experience with the following is a plus: Magnolia CMS, IBM Sterling ITX, ForgeRock / OpenID / OAuth 2.0, API Connect, IBM MQ Advanced.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with CASE tools or equivalent for modelling and development.
  • Comfortable working in an international and multicultural environment, with the ability to adapt quickly to technological developments.
  • Good level of English (minimum B2).
