Our client, a global investment bank in Hong Kong, are seeking a Senior Java Developer to join their growing Equity Derivatives Technology desk. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting critical systems used by front-office teams. You will design, develop, and enhance software components across the derivatives lifecycle.
The role:
- Develop and maintain backend services/components in Java supporting equity derivatives workflows.
- Collaborate with quantitative researchers, business analysts, and trading/risk stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Write clean, testable code; create and maintain unit/integration tests and automate where appropriate.
- Participate in design reviews, provide technical guidance to peers, and contribute to platform engineering practices.
- Support production change delivery (UAT, release readiness) and assist in incident/problem investigations as needed.
- Improve system performance, scalability, and resilience (e.g., caching, async processing, retry/backoff, graceful degradation).
- Follow engineering standards for security, auditability, and operational controls (logging, monitoring, traceability).
What you offer:
- 7+ years of relevant professional software development experience.
- Strong programming experience in Java (core Java + modern frameworks) and Spring framework
- Solid knowledge of APIs, data structures, multithreading/concurrency, and distributed systems fundamentals
- Strong understanding of SQL and relational data modeling; working knowledge of caching/data-access patterns
- Experience in financial services or derivatives technology highly preferred
- Exposure to equity derivatives products (e.g., listed/unlisted options, variance swaps, equity futures options highly preferred
