Summary
Senior Java developer on EPAM's Financial Services Practice building high-performance backend services, REST APIs, and reactive, event-driven data processing for a major global investment bank, using Java 8/9, NoSQL (MongoDB), JAX-RS, and RxJava. Hybrid: 3 days/week from the Warsaw EPAM office; UoP 18–22k PLN/month or B2B 140–170 PLN/h.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain robust Java-based backend services and applications

Build and enhance scalable RESTful APIs serving critical business functions

Implement reactive, event-driven solutions for high-throughput data processing

Work with NoSQL databases to manage and query large-scale datasets

Develop comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliability

Collaborate with globally distributed, cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions

Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to system design for scalability and performance

Operate within an Agile Scrum framework, delivering iteratively with continuous feedback
Requirements

5+ years of professional software development experience

Strong Java development experience — with a focus on Java 8 & 9

Experience with NoSQL databases — ideally MongoDB

Experience implementing REST APIs — ideally with JAX-RS

Experience with Reactive Programming — ideally with RxJava

Solid experience implementing unit tests

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Good communication skills in English for collaboration within an international team
