Senior Java Developer

In this senior backend role, you will own Java-driven backend work within a close-knit agile team, shaping internal systems with the Spring framework. You’ll mentor juniors and pair-program to raise the team's capability while collaborating with C-suite on impactful initiatives. The role involves working with Ubuntu, MySQL and Docker, with exposure to frontend tech like Angular or React. • Serve as the Java expert in an agile team to build and evolve internal systems
• Develop and maintain backend services using Java and Spring
• Mentor junior developers and conduct paired programming to raise team capability
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including the C-suite, to drive business impact
• Work with Ubuntu, MySQL and Docker, with exposure to containerisation and deployment considerations
• Engage with frontend technologies opportunistically (Angular/React) to support full-stack efforts
• Support and contribute to a collaborative, high-delivery culture with flexible hybrid working
• Ensure deliverables align with business goals and ethical, sustainable investment focus

• Strong Java backend experience with Spring
• Experience with Ubuntu, MySQL and Docker
• Ability to mentor and guide more junior developers
• Familiarity with frontend technologies (Angular or React) is a plus
• Comfort working in a hybrid, deadline-driven environment
• Ability to liaise with C-suite and influence business decisions
