Senior Java Developer
Summary
Designs and implements backend services for a banking program using Java 17+, Spring, and Kafka. Works with relational and non-relational databases in an Agile environment.
Responsibilities
• Design and implement backend services using Java 17 or newer
• Develop applications using hexagonal architecture and clean design principles
• Build and maintain Spring based services, including Spring MVC and Spring Data
• Design event driven integrations using Apache Kafka
• Work with relational databases such as MS SQL and Oracle
• Work with non relational technologies such as Elasticsearch and Redis
• Analyse system functionality from performance, stability and security perspectives
• Produce clean, maintainable and well tested code
• Participate in technical design discussions and architecture decisions
• Support code reviews and engineering standards
• Plan and execute testing independently
• Cooperate with analysts, architects and other delivery teams
• Contribute to documentation and technical design materials
Requirements
• Minimum 5 years of commercial Java development experience
• Strong experience with Java 17+
• Strong knowledge of Spring Framework, especially Spring MVC and Spring Data
• Experience with object oriented design patterns
• Experience designing and developing systems using hexagonal architecture
• Strong knowledge of relational databases such as MS SQL or Oracle
• Experience with non relational technologies such as Elasticsearch or Redis
• Practical experience with Apache Kafka
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to work independently and take ownership
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum teams
• English at minimum B2 level
Nice to have
• Experience with Azure
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience preparing High Level Design documentation
• Knowledge of JavaScript, React or Python
• Banking or financial services experience
• Experience with large scale enterprise systems
• Experience with performance optimisation and secure application design
