We are seeking Senior Java Developers to join a digital engineering team supporting DWP Universal Credit.
This is a hands-on senior role requiring strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, AWS, Kafka and MongoDB. You will develop scalable and resilient services, provide technical leadership, and mentor junior developers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test and maintain high-quality Java applications and services.
- Take ownership of complex technical solutions and system integrations.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to other developers.
- Contribute to architecture, technical strategy and engineering best practice.
- Review code and system designs to ensure quality and appropriate standards.
- Support application and infrastructure issues, including 3rd-line support where required.
- Contribute to integration, automated testing, CI/CD and production support.
- Promote security, resilience, accessibility and operational stability.
- Collaborate with architects, product teams and wider engineering communities.
- Identify risks and drive continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
- Extensive commercial Java experience.
- Strong Spring Boot experience.
- Practical AWS experience.
- Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture.
- MongoDB / NoSQL databases.
- REST APIs and microservices.
- Automated testing, TDD/BDD and CI/CD.
- Production troubleshooting and monitoring.
- Strong Agile experience.
