We're looking for a Senior Java Engineer who can bring strong backend engineering experience alongside an interest in AI-assisted development. It is for a client of ours growing its engineering team on a major Tax Administration Modernisation Programme, supporting HMRC in transforming and modernising critical services.
You'll join an agile engineering environment working across multiple Scrum teams, helping design and deliver new capabilities for the Auxiliary Self-Assessment Solutions (ASAS) programme - including the Historical Records Store (HRS).

The team is building modern services across Presentation, Service and Data layers, with engineers encouraged to become genuinely T-shaped and develop capability beyond their core specialism.
We're looking for someone who has:
- Strong Java engineering experience
- Expereince or awareness of, AI technologies
- Python/scripting experience
- Understanding of Git (GitLab experience advantageous)
- Proven leadership and coaching ability
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- A collaborative, quality-driven approach
- The adaptability to work across different areas and priorities
- Experience working effectively within Agile/Scrum teams
