Senior Java Engineer – Hedge Fund

In this role you will help build a new risk engine for a high-profile systematic trading hedge fund. You will work on a large, Java-based distributed system that processes real-time data for portfolio management, focusing on performance and scalability. • Develop and maintain a large distributed system (Java) handling real-time data for portfolio management
• Help design and expand a data platform from scratch with financial domain input
• Contribute to building a new risk engine for systematic trading clients
• Apply low-level Java and performance-oriented techniques to meet latency requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a relaxed, decision-focused culture

• 2:1 Computer Science degree from a UK or EU university
• 10+ years of commercial development experience
• Strong low-level Java experience (Java 8+)
• Experience with Sockets and ByteBuffers
• Strong database skills
• Messaging and code generation expertise
• Fundamental knowledge of OOP, threading, concurrency, and distributed systems
