Senior Java Engineer – ICON IPF/Payments

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Java Engineer with strong hands-on experience across ICON IPF and payment systems to join a team delivering large-scale payment solutions for major banking clients.
You’ll work on modern, cloud-based architectures, contributing to the development of high-performing payment platforms while collaborating closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
The Role
- Develop and deliver large-scale payment solutions using Java, Spring Boot and microservices
- Work hands-on with the ICON IPF Payments framework
- Build and integrate cloud-based payment architectures within AWS
- Design and develop asynchronous, event-driven solutions using Apache Kafka
- Apply strong knowledge of ISO 20022 payments, including payment types and schemes
- Work closely with major banking clients to understand requirements and deliver technical solutions
- Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders throughout the delivery lifecycle
- Contribute to modernisation and transformation of large-scale payment platforms
Required Skills & Experience
- Extensive hands-on experience with Java 11
- Strong experience with Spring Boot and microservices architectures
- Strong hands-on experience within AWS
- Solid experience with Apache Kafka and asynchronous messaging
- In-depth knowledge of ISO 20022 payments, including payment types and schemes
- Hands-on experience implementing ICON IPF
- Proven experience working with major banking clients
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- 18+ months’ experience working on the ICON platform
