Job Summary

HireOn is a recrutiment agency, and recruiting on behalf of a leading client in Lahore seeking a Backend Engineer (Java Spring Boot) to build and scale high-performance, transaction-heavy backend systems. This role requires strong ownership, deep backend expertise, and the ability to design resilient, secure, and scalable services in a fast-paced environment.

Core Responsibilities Backend Development & System Design

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java 17 and Spring Boot
Build robust RESTful APIs with versioning, validation, and error handling
Implement Clean Architecture principles with strong domain separation
Follow modular and layered architectural patterns
Own features end-to-end from design to production support

Database & Data Management

Design and optimize MySQL schemas, queries, and indexing strategies
Manage schema versioning and database changes using Liquibase
Execute reliable database migrations across environments
Ensure data integrity and transactional consistency in concurrent systems

Performance, Caching & Messaging

Implement caching strategies using Redis
Develop asynchronous workflows using RabbitMQ or messaging systems
Build and manage background jobs and schedulers
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and race conditions

Security, Reliability & Monitoring

Implement backend security using Spring Security
Apply authentication and authorization best practices
Maintain logging, monitoring, and auditing for system reliability

DevOps & Deployment

Work with Docker and Docker Compose
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automation
Manage environment configurations across staging and production
Support deployment and maintenance workflows

Collaboration & Engineering Excellence

Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions
Collaborate with frontend, QA, mobile, and DevOps teams
Improve code quality, documentation, and development standards

Required Skills & Experience

3+ years of backend development experience with Java & Spring Boot
Strong expertise in:
- Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security
- REST API design and development
Advanced SQL skills with MySQL (optimization, indexing, tuning)
Hands-on experience with Liquibase
Experience with Redis caching
Experience with RabbitMQ / event-driven architecture
Solid understanding of concurrency, scalability, and system performance
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools like Claude

Nice to Have

Experience in FinTech, POS, Retail, or high-transaction systems
Exposure to microservices or distributed systems
Familiarity with Jakarta EE, Lombok
Experience with CI/CD tools and pipelines
Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
Experience with internationalization or multi-region deployments
Basic shell scripting
