Summary
Senior backend engineer in Kuala Lumpur building and maintaining Java microservices with Spring/Spring Boot and REST APIs, backed by SQL/NoSQL databases. Day to day includes writing tests, code reviews, CI/CD deployments, and troubleshooting production performance and reliability issues.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain backend services using Spring / Spring Boot
- Build microservices with REST APIs, clear service boundaries, and reusable components
- Implement authentication/authorization, validation, logging, and error handling patterns
- Write unit and integration tests; participate in code reviews and refactoring
- Collaborate with Product, QA, and DevOps for delivery across Dev/Test/Prod environments
- Troubleshoot production issues and optimize performance and reliability
- Support release activities and CI/CD deployments
Requirements:
- Strong hands-on experience in Spring Framework / Spring Boot
- Solid experience in Microservices architecture (service decomposition, communication, resilience basics)
- Strong Java skills including modern Java (Java 8+): streams, lambdas, optional, concurrency fundamentals
- Core Java foundations: OOP, collections, exceptions, generics, multithreading basics
- RESTful APIs, API versioning, backward compatibility
- SQL/NoSQL: PostgreSQL/MySQL/MongoDB (any)
- Testing: JUnit, Mockito (plus integration testing is a bonus)
- Git and standard branching/version control practices
- Understanding of CI/CD (Jenkins/GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps)
- Exposure to DevOps practices and Azure/AWS basics
