Senior Java Software Engineer

Summary

Develops and maintains cloud-native microservices in Kotlin/Java for a global airline content distribution system, handling XML/JSON protocol translation and RESTful APIs in a GCP environment.

The project centers around a high-performance Kotlin application consisting of 7 functional services. It serves as a vital translation layer for JSON/XML web service communications within the global airline content distribution ecosystem. Deployed in a Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment, the system powers integration and communication for multiple airline carriers and agencies worldwide.

Key Functional Areas

  • Protocol Translation: Managing XML/JSON web services communication across the global airline distribution network.
  • Microservices Architecture: Maintaining and expanding a suite of 7 functional Kotlin services hosted on cloud infrastructure.
  • Global Ecosystem Integration: Enabling high-availability connections for international travel agencies and airline platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain cloud-native microservices using Kotlin and Java.
  • Build and support RESTful APIs, web service interfaces, and integration components.
  • Maintain CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and cloud infrastructure integration.
  • Work with Linux-based virtualized environments, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues, optimize application performance, and write clean, maintainable code.
  • Collaborate within an agile environment on simultaneous projects and deliver technical goals.

Requirements

  • Experience: 4+ years of relevant professional experience as a Java or Kotlin Developer in complex software projects.
  • Core Tech Stack: Proficiency in Kotlin and/or Java (with full willingness to code in Kotlin), Spring, REST Services, Git, Maven, and Jenkins.
  • Cloud & OS: Hands-on development experience with GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, and user-level Linux/virtual machines.
  • Work Model: Hybrid work setup (2-3 days a week from the Krakow office, working in the CET time zone).
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, task independence, excellent English communication, and a collaborative, team-first mindset.
  • Nice to Have: Experience with AI-related concepts and tools, Prometheus/Grafana monitoring, or specialized web services infrastructure.
