Summary

Leads design and production of fine gold and gemstone jewellery using CAD tools, manages prototyping to retail, and ensures commercial viability and quality.

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Jewellery Designer & Product Development Specialist to lead the design and development of fine gold and gemstone jewellery. This is a senior, hands-on position requiring strong technical jewellery knowledge, advanced design capabilities and proven commercial experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create original collections for 916 and 999 gold jewellery, diamond jewellery.
  • Produce detailed hand sketches, technical drawings, specifications and production-ready designs.
  • Develop designs using professional jewellery CAD software, including Rhino, MatrixGold or equivalent.
  • Manage the complete product-development process from concept and prototyping to final production.
  • Calculate gold weight, gemstone requirements, production costs and expected retail margins.
  • Work closely with goldsmiths, manufacturers, stone setters and suppliers to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Review prototypes and identify issues relating to durability, stone security, finishing and wearability.
  • Design collections suitable for South Asian, Middle Eastern and contemporary Singapore markets.
  • Conduct market and trend research while ensuring all designs remain original.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality over company designs, pricing, suppliers and future collections.
  • Handle several complex collections simultaneously within demanding production deadlines.
  • Train junior designers and provide technical guidance to the production team.

Essential Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Jewellery Design, Product Design or a closely related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of professional jewellery-design experience, including at least 3 years in a senior or lead role.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating commercially produced fine-jewellery collections.
  • Advanced proficiency in jewellery CAD software such as Rhino, MatrixGold, ZBrush or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of gold purity, alloy behaviour, casting, soldering, stone setting, polishing and jewellery manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated ability to design lightweight jewellery while maintaining strength and visual appeal.
  • Experience preparing accurate technical specifications for manufacturers.
  • Ability to calculate approximate metal weight, gemstone quantities and production costs before manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of diamonds, coloured gemstones, setting styles and quality-control standards.
  • Experience developing jewellery for commercial retail production, not only conceptual or fashion design.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently under strict deadlines.
  • Applicants must submit a professional portfolio showing sketches, CAD models, prototypes and completed commercial pieces.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience designing bridal, temple, Arabic, Indian and contemporary fine jewellery.
  • Knowledge of jewellery-market trends in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
  • Experience coordinating with overseas jewellery manufacturers.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and rendering software.
