Job Description

Core Technical & Safety Skills

  • Gas Safety Competence (Core Skills): Knowledge of Gas Safety requirements EN 30 (or local equivalent), tightness testing, pressure testing, and identifying unsafe situations.
  • Electrical Proficiency: Knowledge of IEC 60335 regulations (or local equivalent) for electrical safety, understanding wiring diagrams, electrical controls, and working with heating elements.
  • Fault Diagnosis: Ability to diagnose and repair issues with gas burners, thermocouples, igniters, and electrical ovens/hobs.
  • Testing and Commissioning: Using diagnostic tools such as multimeters (for electrical) and pressure leakage (for gas) to ensure safe operation.

Practical and Physical Skills

  • Pipe Fitting: Cutting, joining, and installing gas pipes and fittings.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Assembling, leveling, and repairing the physical structure of freestanding cookers when needed,
  • Tool Proficiency: Skill in using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment's.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to lift, maneuver, and install heavy freestanding units if needed

Soft Skills

  • Problem-Solving: Quickly diagnosing faults in complex dual-fuel systems.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous work in safety checks to prevent gas leaks or fire hazards.
  • Time Management: Managing multiple appointments and working efficiently.
  • Self learning: Managing to learn related safety aspects and different validation procedures.

Certifications is an advantage

  • ACS (Accredited Certification Scheme): Specifically CCN1 (Core Domestic Gas Safety) and CKR1 (Cookers).
  • Gas Safe Registration: Legal requirement for gas work.
  • Electrical Certification: Part P competency for dealing with electrical connections on dual fuel appliances.
