The Opportunity
Our location in Columbus, OH currently has an opportunity for a Senior Laboratory Information Systems (LIS/LIMS) Specialist brings advanced expertise in laboratory information management systems and plays a key role in ensuring compliance, efficiency, and strategic alignment of these systems across the global Abbott Nutrition network.
What You'll Work On
- Provide advanced support for LIMS and chromatography data systems; resolve end‑user issues directly and by guiding Specialists and IT partners.
- Serve as liaison between business users and IT, translating business needs into IT actions and IT requirements into business actions.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement through technology, training, and collaboration; lead continuous improvement projects to enhance usability and data integrity.
- Review system audit findings and drive appropriate corrective and preventive actions to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Assist the System Owner in ensuring applications are compliant and fit for intended use per applicable SOPs.
- Approve access requests as needed and ensure alignment with access procedures and segregation‑of‑duties expectations.
- Define user requirements for LIMS, incorporating subject matter expertise across multiple functions.
- Author/execute user acceptance testing (UAT) and support operational qualification (OQ) testing as required.
- Ensure system changes are controlled, approved, and managed per Abbott policies and procedures.
- Drive harmonization of LIMS‑related business processes by collaborating with cross‑functional teams across the AN network.
- Develop and maintain procedures that adhere to global policies to support consistent and compliant system usage.
- Provide guidance on job aids and knowledge resources developed by Specialists; support change management and knowledge transfer with project managers.
- Act as a subject matter expert for LIMS applications to partner functions (e.g., QA, R&D, Manufacturing, Microbiology).
Education & Experience You'll Bring
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Life Science, or an IT/technical discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience, including hands‑on experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Proven ability to partner across functions and provide technical consultation to enhance end‑user experience and system performance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple activities/projects simultaneously.
Preferred:
- Experience in microbiology and environmental monitoring.
- Experience in a regulated food or nutrition industry, with knowledge of standards/requirements and experience with scale‑up and/or commercialization of product innovations.
- Familiarity with data integrity principles (e.g., ALCOA+), CSV/CSA practices, and audit/inspection readiness.

The base pay for this position is
$78,000.00 – $156,000.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
