Senior Laboratory Technologist
Role overview:
We are looking for a senior laboratory technologist to lead and support day-to-day laboratory operations, ensuring accurate and timely diagnostic results. This role plays a key part in maintaining quality standards, supporting clinical teams, and mentoring junior staff.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance.
- Perform calibration.
- Run quality control.
- Operate laboratory instruments/analyzers.
- Perform laboratory manual examinations.
- Carry out the following tasks assigned below:
- Establish mean for IQC.
- Calculate mean, SD, %CV.
- Compile monthly IQC.
- Review EQA evaluation.
- Perform factor calibration for hematology analyzers.
- Enter referral laboratory results.
- Reconstitute QC and calibrators.
- Validate/verify analyte.
- Follow standard operating procedures for all assigned duties as per quality management system (CAP, JCI, and ISO 15189) adopted by the laboratory.
- Follow laboratory safety practices.
- Proficiently use laboratory information systems.
- Maintain a chain of communication across various shifts and other instances of handing over.
- Inform critical values as per the defined procedure.
- Carry out tests and generate results in a timely manner; monitor turnaround time (TAT).
- Evaluate analyzer flags related to examination and analyzer.
- Preserve specimens after examination to maintain specimen integrity and discard after the relevant storage period.
- Preserve highly abnormal specimens and blood films, where possible.
- Release reports, including critical results.
- Release amended/corrected reports after communication to the physician.
Requirements:
- Experienced lab technician or technologist with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
- Valid laboratory technician or technologist license by MOHAP, DHA, or HAAD.
- Degree (technologist) or diploma (technician) in medical laboratory technology.
