Senior/Lead DevOps Engineer

Position Description

VOLO is looking for a hands-on Senior/Lead DevOps Engineer to provide technical leadership across enterprise software projects for international clients.

The Lead DevOps Engineer will work closely with engineering, architecture, and delivery teams to assess project requirements, design infrastructure and deployment architectures, identify technical and operational risks, and guide the implementation of secure, scalable, and reliable solutions.

The role may oversee DevOps activities across several projects, depending on workload and business needs. The successful candidate is expected to remain deeply involved in architecture, implementation, troubleshooting, technical reviews, and critical production activities.

The position requires strong technical judgment, solution architecture capabilities, delivery awareness, and the confidence to lead infrastructure-related discussions with clients and internal stakeholders.

What you will do

• Analyze project requirements and translate business, technical, security, and operational needs into infrastructure and DevOps solutions.
• Design cloud, on-premises, and hybrid infrastructure architectures for enterprise applications.
• Define Kubernetes, containerization, networking, CI/CD, observability, security, backup, and disaster-recovery approaches.
• Identify architecture, scalability, security, reliability, cost, and delivery risks during discovery and project execution.
• Prepare architecture recommendations, technical roadmaps, implementation plans, and effort estimates.
• Assess existing environments and define optimization, modernization, and migration plans.
• Plan and lead cloud migrations, infrastructure modernizations, Kubernetes adoption, and CI/CD transformation initiatives.
• Provide technical oversight across multiple projects and ensure consistency with engineering standards and best practices.
• Work hands-on with cloud platforms, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, scripting, observability, and production systems.
• Review infrastructure code, pipeline configurations, deployment approaches, and operational designs.
• Support engineering and delivery teams in resolving complex infrastructure, deployment, networking, performance, and production issues.
• Lead root-cause analysis for critical incidents and define preventive and corrective actions.
• Participate in pre-sales, discovery, estimation, and solution-design activities.
• Lead client discussions related to infrastructure architecture, delivery approach, security, reliability, modernization, and operational readiness.
• Mentor DevOps engineers and provide technical guidance without stepping away from hands-on engineering responsibilities.

What You Need to Have

• At least eight years of professional experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, site reliability engineering, platform engineering, systems engineering, or a related field.
• Strong hands-on experience designing and operating enterprise production environments.
• Advanced experience with Kubernetes and containerized application platforms.
• Strong experience with Azure, AWS, or another major cloud platform.
• Strong experience designing cloud, on-premises, and hybrid infrastructure architectures.
• Advanced experience with infrastructure-as-code technologies such as Terraform, Azure ARM, Bicep, CloudFormation, or equivalent tools.
• Strong experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines and automated release processes.
• Hands-on experience administering Linux and Windows environments.
• Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar languages.
• Strong understanding of networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, load balancing, firewalls, TLS, proxies, ingress, and Kubernetes networking.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting, observability, backup, disaster recovery, and production-readiness practices.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure security, identity and access management, secrets management, vulnerability management, and system hardening.
• Experience planning or executing infrastructure modernization, cloud migration, or platform transformation initiatives.
• Ability to evaluate architecture options and balance scalability, reliability, security, cost, delivery speed, and maintainability.
• Experience providing technical leadership across multiple projects or delivery teams.
• Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and incident-management capabilities.
• Ability to produce clear architecture diagrams, technical documentation, implementation plans, and operational guidelines.
• Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to independently lead client meetings and technical discussions.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to Have

• Experience designing multi-region, highly available, or business-critical platforms.
• Experience with microservices architectures and distributed systems.
• Experience with GitOps and deployment technologies such as Argo CD, Flux, or Helm.
• Experience with observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, Azure Monitor, or comparable technologies.
• Experience supporting applications built with .NET, Java, Python, or similar technology stacks.
• Relevant cloud, Kubernetes, DevOps, or architecture certifications.
• Experience contributing to technical pre-sales, solution estimation, or architecture proposals.
• Experience working with international clients and distributed delivery teams.
