This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Lead Engineer (Hardware Design) based in India.
This role offers the opportunity to lead the design and development of advanced digital electronic systems for aerospace and defense applications. You will contribute across the full hardware lifecycle, from requirements definition and schematic design through verification, qualification, and production. The position combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration. You will work with complex digital architectures, high-speed interfaces, memory technologies, and safety-critical hardware. The role also provides exposure to rigorous aerospace and environmental qualification standards. Accountabilities:
- Lead and contribute to all stages of the hardware development lifecycle, from concept and requirements definition through qualification and production.
- Design and develop digital electronic circuits and Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) using schematic capture tools and established engineering practices.
- Develop hardware solutions incorporating Ethernet, I2C, USB, LVDS, SERDES, and DDR1/DDR2/DDR3 memory interfaces.
- Perform hardware verification, testing, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis using engineering laboratory equipment.
- Conduct signal integrity and timing analyses to validate robust, reliable hardware designs.
- Support environmental and electromagnetic qualification activities in accordance with DO-160, MIL-STD-810, and MIL-STD-461 requirements.
- Apply Design to Cost, Design for Manufacturing, and Design for Test principles throughout the product lifecycle.
- Establish and maintain hardware requirements, traceability, verification, and testability documentation.
- Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and cross-functional engineering activities.
- Collaborate with engineering teams across disciplines and locations to deliver high-quality hardware solutions within program objectives and timelines.
- Provide technical leadership on complex engineering challenges and contribute to strategic hardware development initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM discipline; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- 6+ years of experience across the hardware development lifecycle, with strong expertise in digital electronics design, schematic capture, CCA design, and requirements traceability.
- Hands-on experience designing and supporting Ethernet, I2C, USB, LVDS, and SERDES interfaces.
- Proven experience designing DDR1, DDR2, and DDR3 memory interfaces.
- Strong knowledge of hardware verification, signal integrity analysis, timing analysis, and laboratory-based troubleshooting.
- Experience with DO-160, MIL-STD-810, and MIL-STD-461 testing or equivalent aerospace/defense qualification standards.
- Knowledge of embedded hardware or embedded systems design is highly desirable.
- Experience with Design to Cost, Design for Manufacturing, and Design for Test methodologies is advantageous.
- Previous experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, or other safety-critical engineering environments is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking capabilities, with the ability to investigate complex technical issues and develop practical solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary and global teams.
