Senior Legal Counsel – Regulatory

Role Purpose:
You will act as legal support for the UK business and wider international Moneycorp Group, predominantly focusing on regulatory matters.
Role Responsibilities:
- Lead on product, regulatory and commercial legal matters including providing advice and guidance on building, launching, marketing and operating products including multi-currency operations, payment and cross border transactions, as well as digital banking models and digital wallets in multiple markets, including regulatory/licensing issues.
- Advise on regulatory requirements relating to payment services, electronic money, cross-border payments, foreign exchange services, safeguarding, CASS and the consumer protection matters.
- Assist with responses to audits, complaints, or enforcement actions from bodies like the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) and the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC).
- Support applications for regulatory authorisations, permissions, registrations or licence variations.
- Assist with complaints received via the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) or other equivalent body.
- Advise on Moneycorp’s compliance with payments, financial services, AML/CFT, and other regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
- Reviewing, negotiating and advising on contracts on behalf of Group functions.
- Monitoring, reporting and horizon scanning key regulatory changes that can impact the business. These will include directives related to E-money, PSD, MiFID II and digital asset regulation.
- Assisting the wider Group legal team with commercial, corporate, litigation and employment matters.
- Instructing external legal counsel where appropriate.
- Assisting with the organisation of Group insurance cover.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Legal knowledge and the application of FSMA, E-money, PSD2, MiFID II and digital asset regulation, FCA and PRA rules and guidance in relation to Financial Services.
- UK qualified lawyer with 5 years + of experience gained in a large law firm and/or in-house with a major firm.
- Previous regulatory legal experience.
- High-level of attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task with accuracy.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
Education / Qualifications:
- Qualified solicitor with at least 4-5 years post-qualification experience.

Location and Contract Type:
This is a full-time, permanent position. The role is expected to be office-based in London or Coventry, however, we have a flexible working policy which enables you to work up to 2 days from home.
